July 2017 - Pastor Ponderings

At any new beginning there are questions. Questions like; where are we going?, how did we get here?, what does the future hold?, will this work?, where is God in all of this? Who are you and, what do we call you?
As we begin our journey as Harrodsburg United Methodist, let me help you with some of the answers.
First and the easiest to answer, what shall we call you?, I have been called many things; I prefer to be called “Pastor Trish”. Who am I? I shared a good bit of my biography with you Sunday (June 25) during worship, so I will not repeat it here. I am your new pastor, a wife, mom, sister, nana, and a disciple of Jesus. I have a heart for Christ and His children.
Where is God in all of this? He is right here in plain view, all we need to do is open our eyes and see how He has been working to bring us together, so as to be in the center of his will. Will this work? With God all things are possible, he only ask us to be faithful and obedient. Living in God’s will means that we need to understand that in the end, it’s not about us, it is about us living out our discipleship so that the world might be transformed.
Where are we going? We are going on a journey to the preferred future that God has for us! How do we get there? We’ll get to this preferred future together with much prayer, study, discernment, and trust. Along the way, I’m sure there will be some failures or bumps in the road. We will view these not as obstacles but as opportunities. Together we look for the possibilities for ordinary people to do extraordinary things.
May these verses guide us…”Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43: 18-19 (NIV) and John14: 12 (CEB) “I assure you that whoever believes in me will do the works that I do. They will do even greater works than these because I am going to the Father.”
Grace and Peace – Pastor Trish
