June 2017 - Pastor Hawkins and Sue’s final thoughts

Our first Sunday at Harrodsburg UMC began June 24, 2012 and our last Sunday will be “Father’s Day,” June 18, 2017. These past five years have gone by incredibly fast. We were most grateful for Rev. Jack Brewer’s calming presence during the interim period. Thank you church family for your prayers and support during that time of transition.
In giving thanks we are mindful of the many things you did for the church and parsonage. The SPPR Team and the Trustees worked hand in glove in improving both facilities. Many of you assisted both of these groups in facilitating the various work projects, be it physical labor or monetary gifts. Our church and parsonage stand tall in our community and the public is appreciative of all that has been done to maintain historical integrity.
We have experienced many wonderful events in the life of our ministry here such as baptisms, births, confirmations, weddings, and our 175th Anniversary and Home Tour. We have also ministered to those families who have had loved ones to pass on to glory. The common denominator in joy and sorrow is your compassion and grace. People of Harrodsburg UMC are a gracious people and very benevolent.
As Sue and I prepare for our next appointment at Orangeburg UMC, we go trusting that God will continue to provide us with wisdom and grace. We are thankful to have an appointment in our retirement years.
Thank you for your faithfulness, commitment, and dedication to serving God and the church. Thank you for your many acts of kindness and generosity over these past five years. We love you and will always hold a special memory of you in our hearts.
Blessings always,
Pastor Garland and Sue Hawkins
